What is the difference between IIoT and IoT?

IoT (Internet of Things) is a term that refers to a system of interconnected physical devices or "things" that are embedded with sensors, software, and network connectivity to enable them to collect and exchange data. IoT devices are often used in consumer applications, such as smart homes and wearables, as well as in industrial and commercial applications such as environmental monitoring, asset tracking, and energy management.

IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), on the other hand, is a term used to describe the use of IoT technology in industrial settings, such as manufacturing plants, refineries, and power stations. IIoT devices and sensors are used to collect data and monitor equipment and processes in real-time, allowing for better visibility and control of industrial operations.

The main difference between the two lies in their respective applications. While IoT focuses on consumer-oriented applications such as home automation, IIoT is geared towards industrial use cases, including predictive maintenance, quality control, and supply chain optimization. IIoT also places a greater emphasis on security and reliability due to the critical nature of industrial systems.
